Wedding Stationery Trends for 2024: A Pacific Northwest Perspective
Let’s embark on a journey together to explore the ever-evolving landscape of wedding stationery trends! Ultimately, a wedding should represent the couple being celebrated, irrespective of trend forecasts. My hope is that by exploring the trends making waves in the world of wedding stationery, we can all find inspiration to help ignite fresh and captivating ideas. As most of the couples I work with are celebrating their love here in the Pacific Northwest, I narrowed my search to highlight elements that are striking a chord up in this beautiful corner of the US.
Custom Illustrations: Illustrations, whether hand-painted or graphic, are a wonderful way to narrate the couple’s journey or highlight cherished locations. From iconic buildings to stunning landscapes, these elements infuse your wedding stationery with a personal touch and are a great way to shine a spotlight on the local region. Our couple’s love to incorporate Mount Hood, roses, trees, ferns, wine country, and more!
Watercolor: Obviously we were thrilled to see watercolor make the trend report! The lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and the soft, ethereal nature of watercolor make for a perfect pair! Misty mountain landscapes and custom hand-painted maps highlighting venues, accommodations, and other weekend events are among our couples’ favorite ways to incorporate watercolor touches into their wedding stationery.
Natural Texture: Incorporating natural textures like wood, leather, and twine into stationery is a great way to pay homage to the region’s landscape and adventurous spirit and add a tactile dimension to the paper experience. We love this trend and have already seen it popping up in 2023! From custom leather ribbon to real wood envelope liners, there’s just something special about an unexpected material!
Moody Elegance: Oh this is a fun one!! Moody color palettes are gaining popularity in the wedding stationery scene, using deep jewel tones, rich burgundies, and dark greens to evoke a sense of elegant romance. I recently had a couple embrace this vibe for their rehearsal dinner and it was absolutely divine. If pastels and cheerful colors are not your thing, go for what sets your soul on fire!! We are here for it!
Playful Typography: Couples are letting their personalities shine through quirky fonts and hand-lettered designs. We have already seen a shift away from the modern calligraphy style that took the world by storm from 2013-2022, in favor of unique typography, playful calligraphy or hand-painted styles. The joys of working with a stationery designer on a custom suite is that every element can be coordinated to tell the story, including the way the words appear on the page!
