Meet the Scribblist
Hello and welcome! I’m Amanda, the artist behind The Scribblist. I’ve been making art my whole life, but The Scribblist started because I believed there was room in the world for stationery and gifts that felt like real art, not an afterthought. Everything in the shop begins as an original watercolor painting in my studio just outside of Portland, Oregon, with my faithful pup Brady keeping watch.
I earned my Bachelor of Art degree from UCLA, and my Master of Fine Art from Tufts University, where I trained in painting, drawing, and sculpture. Those years of training are what you see in every product - in the composition of a greeting card, the color theory behind a curated print series, the way a mural tells a story across 1,000 square feet of wall. Art school didn’t make me an artist, but it made me a better one.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me daydreaming about our next trip with my husband (or, let’s be honest, rewatching Rick Steves on the couch), baking a pie, or hunting for something beautiful at an estate sale or antique market. These things also find their way into my work - the joy of a memorable meal or vista, the comfort of a good book, the particular satisfaction of something done carefully and well.
Whether you’re shopping for the perfect card, commissioning a custom portrait, looking to bring original art into your home, or exploring a commercial collaboration - I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s make something memorable together.
